Rare WW2 German U-Boat Conning Tower Deck Binoculars ‘U.D.F’ (Unterwasser Doppel Fernrohr), these specially produced optics by the firm Carl Zeiss, Jenna, were built to be fixed to the conning tower of German U-Boats and were produced in bronze and built to withstand the pressure of up to 300 meters if the U-Boat had to suddenly dive before they could be removed from their position. The binoculars are in remarkable condition retaining much of the original green / grey paint finish to the body, the lenses remain clear, the right hand side having the targeting line. Original rubber caps are still present and remain in good condition. The body of the binoculars are stamped ‘U.D.F 7x50 264183 blc’. Complete with the fixing rod. An excellent set of rare original U-Boat optics.
